Drone On

Hello once again, Dear Reader, after an undeniably long hiatus I have returned. Actually, I returned a couple of months ago in body, just not in spirit. However, moping never got me anywhere (sadly) so here I am blogging once more.

So, what have I been up to, you ask?

Well, that a story for another day. What I can, and will, say for now is "spending money".

And this is my latest purchase.

In case you are not up to speed with the myriad of makes and models out there, this is the recently released DJI Mavic Pro.

Why?

Well, it is of limited value for work-related purposes, although I can think of a few. Particularly for pre-surveillance reconnaissance in some cases, but we will have to see.

Basically, I like the compact size and fold-away nature that makes this appear to be reasonably easy to travel with and then deploy in almost no time whatsoever.  A 7km range and up to 27 minute flight time also seem reasonably good in comparison to others.

Of course I say appear to because I have yet to receive mine, and might be lucky if I get it before Xmas.

I went for the combo deal that included two extra batteries, a car charger, and some other kit. It just made sense.

Anyway, I'll be sure to give you a report once I've had a chance to put it through its paces. Am actually quite looking forward to this.

However, what will probably happen is I'll lose it in a fiery crash within minutes of unboxing. That is how these things usually work out.

Take care out there.

  3. Well, all I can tell you is that you picked the best model on the current market! :) Beside the unbelievable range and flight time, you will be left speechless once you realise all the modes and features Mavic offers. An yes, don't worry about crashing it, this drone practically pilots on its own and even has a special "crash" position it takes if its sensors are screaming Mayday :) You will enjoy this one for years to come ;) By the way, if you want to find out more about the latest commercial drone models, I suggest checking out this article I found on the web the other day: http://mydronelab.com/buyers-guide/new-drones.html
